My wife's birthday was coming up, and I asked her what she wanted. She said, "I just want to be around baby goats." After I got over my confusion, I searched for all kinds of petting zoos, but they were all geared towards children. She had mentioned goat yoga before, so I looked into it. It seemed like one of those "well, this is weird, but I'd be willing to try it" things. I bought two tickets for the Saturday class in Conroe. The next day, I realized that I had booked the event on top of a work conflict that I couldn't reschedule. I thought I was in trouble, and that I would miss my wife's birthday celebration because I had acted without thinking. When I emailed the coordinator, Rachel, she responded immediately and was totally willing to work with me. She not only allowed us to use our Saturday tickets on Sunday, but she gave us a time slot without any other people. It was a private class for my wife and me with 20 goats. The Conroe location is absolutely beautiful and was a peaceful setting for yoga. It's accessible, but it feels secluded. Melissa was an awesome instructor. She gave us a great workout, and was positive and encouraging. Lauren was there to handle the animals. She was so kind and capable, and she made us feel safe. This experience was awesome in every way and completely exceeded my expectations. The pictures turned out really well (you can see them on the Facebook page). It's so funny talking to my friends about it, because it seems so strange, but I recommend it to anyone!
Bring your own mat
Please bring your own mat or towel! We would currently recommend towels, as some of our females are pregnant and have started chewing mats, even teaching the other goats this bad habit. Even though the veterinarian said this is not a problem for the goats, we would hate for anyone to go home upset. Also, this helps you in another way, towels can be washed, yoga mats can not. We will have a limited amount of mats for rent if you would like to use ours.
